K Van Petten (they/them) is a queer and non-binary poet and musician based in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood. In 2022, they released 'For Someone,' a hybrid audiobook cassette tape featuring music and poetry, through Hello America Stereo Cassette. The tape can be found at various locations, including Elliott Bay Books, The Vera Project, Light in the Attic Records at KEXP, and online. Their video poem 'For Jumping,' inspired by the tape, premiered in 2023 at Northwest Film Forum and was selected for SIFF's NW Folklife Film Forum. Currently, they work for local non-profits Poetry Northwest and Sonic Guild. Their previous projects include Baddy Gold, Wet Whitman, and Everyday in February.
