About Their Work:

In Sati Mukherjee’s poems “paying attention is a sacred act.” Whether it’s her grandfather’s memoirs or a neighbor child burying “his deciduous teeth,” the act of prayer and the gaze of the scientist converge,  “sound swells. The sky/ comes closer” “Everything turns inside-out “ “internal climate as well as the natural world”” organized in these concentric circles” – eyes and orbits, cornoas, rings, loops of prayer beads  ” re-enter the visible world “clear, with edges – to billow/into becoming” “oridinary things turned holy”
