About Their Work:
"How tasty this body" Woogee proclaims in one of her poems, drawing our attention to how the "Inescapable dream of this body/Nestles into every crevice" like the discarded husks after a meal. And so she disembowels the gut and probes the splayed out contents like an ancient diviner, tracing the shucked bean pods, garlic juices, pancake batter for harbingers of "Grief bound up in disinfectant/on a counter." She reminds us wryly of the cruelty we often pretend we've progressed beyond, giving voice and shape to the often unacknowledged collateral that stands up our sterile conveniences, reminding us that what is “'unintentional'/ Will eventually spill back into civilization."
